Happy Victim's Week!

Hey, everybody, Happy Victims! Here's a totally feasible idea to make criminals make financial restitution to their victims! Because criminals totally have the money to pay you back! Because they didn't spend it on crack or anything!

Coming later this week, my long promised tale of The Day My Car Got Stolen! I was a victim, and that's why I can rock it so hard this week!

Have you been a victim? Tell us about it in the comments thread below!

I'm a victim of domestic abuse.

I was the victim of a violent crime years ago, and successfully sued the perpetrator in court. I knew going in that I would be unlikely to collect immediately from the bastard, but I saw it as an effective long-term harassment strategy. You see, in Missouri you have five years to collect restitution from the perp. Then you can file for an additional five-year extension. This means that after Mr. Criminal gets out of jail and gets a menial job (which he must keep if he wants to satisfy his parole officer), you can garnish his pitifully small paycheck, thereby making his life just that much more difficult. With me, it’s not about justice. It’s about revenge. And before you judge me too harshly, remember that revenge is, in the end, what America’s criminal justice system is all about.

I forgot you were able to do that. That's pretty awesome. I got no problem with revenge, as long as no testicles are lopped off or anything.
